Aberdeenshire Slow Food Convivium

NEWS UPDATE

SPRING 2008

There is a certain degree of madness required to volunteer with a Convivium and this, being March, it is very appropriate that you find your Convivium bods ‘haring’ around. As profound exponents of the slow philosophy, it is ironic that our busy lives often keep us away from the website and event organisation but be reassured, things may have been quiet but they haven’t been inactive.

We were last seen in 2007 at the Aboyne Christmas Market and Switch On in December. Our thanks to Fiona Buchanan, Chris Fenn and Tim Summers, who huddled in freezing temperatures and chatted to the merry market goers. The Crannach market stall defeated their combined skills but being next door to the Wark Farm pork pies kept Tim cheery at least!

So, what’s next?

Lots of convivial projects bubble beneath the surface, looking for your enthusiasm and support in the coming months. From a ‘Green Drinks’ event coming up in March to Baking in Gartly, there is plenty for everyone.

Hopefully 2008 will see us establish a series of informal lunches/suppers throughout the year in a variety of venues, giving us the opportunity to get together and share what is happening across the area. We are also working on creating new links with other events through out the region which will raise our profile and help to spread the word.

In the middle of Fair Trade Fortnight, remember that fair trade can begin at home. Buy direct from our wonderful local producers and you enrich them directly, whilst enriching our local food culture and your table!
