Who are we?

A Slow Food taster night led by Val Buchanan (then of the Banff & Buchan Convivium) was held at the Woodend Barn Arts Centre, Banchory in June 2002. The response was overwhelming and it became clear that a small group of like minded enthusiasts was emerging, enough to take forward the idea of an Aberdeenshire Convivium. An inaugural meeting was held in September and a committee established to organise events and to spread the word.

At the heart of the Convivium is a small committee of professionals (from food to software), producers, retailers, caterers, mothers and foodies all with a passion for Slow food and desire to get as many people as possible thinking 'slow'.

We all get involved in events large and small and playing host to the regular international visitors who recognize the depth and richness of food culture that this area has to offer.

To date we have a database of over 140 people from all areas and walks of life, all who are interested in the Convivium and in the international movement in general. We hope to involve more and more people with ideas for events, promotions etc., so please contact us!
